- Portrait of a gentleman, wearing a black hat, leaning on a stone ledge and patting a hound
- oil on panel
Condition
The tone of the original is much brighter than it appears in the catalogue illustration, particularly in the background. The support consists of a single, stable, flat panel bevelled on the left and right margins and to a lesser extent on the top and bottom margins. The paint surface is stable and generally in good condition although somewhat worn in the darker pigments, and under an old varnish. Old scattered retouching works are just visible to the naked eye most notably in the greens of the background and in the darker areas of his fur and robe. Inspection under UV light is generally impeded by the old varnish.
Offered in a wooden frame in good condition.
