Oil on canvas, oval. The canvas is lined and the upper edge of the reverse has been reinforced with a newer piece of canvas. The picture surface is in generally good condition aside from surface dirt and dust and some minor small abrasions at the edges. Under UV light, there are small dots and dashes of inpainting in the figure's face and right arm and hand and an area of inpaniting to the right of his sword. There are a few addiitonal small spots of inpainting scattered in the background.
