Condition
Oil on canvas. The original canvas is very coarsely woven, almost burlap, as is the lining canvas. The canvas is somewhat slack in the stretcher. Frame abrasions and some very minor associated losses at the extreme edges. Stable web of craquelure over the entire surface; in the background this craquelure is slightly dimensional. Some scattered, very minor pinpoint losses. Shiny varnish. Under UV light, there are small scattered areas of inpaint in the upper left corner and along the left edge; small dots scattered variously in the background; one thin line in the angels cheek; a few small scattered dots and dashes in his neck; and a few scattered in his white robe. Some of the highlights to the robe fluoresce lightly.
