The canvas support is stable and appears to have an old relining. The paint surface is stable under a dirty varnish which is blooming slightly in the upper left hand corner. There are a small number of visible knocks and abrasions, notably in the donkey's neck, and minor losses to the sky. A reading under UV, impeded by the dirty varnish, shows some strengthening to the architecture. The painting would benefit from cleaning and a fresh varnish. Offered in a carved gilt wood frame.
