Catalogue Note

Laurits Andersen Ring excelled both as a landscape artist and a symbolist.  He had a deep connection to Danish folk traditions, contemporary literature and avant garde painting. Born in southern Zealand in the town of Ring, he has painted Roskilde Fjord which is located in the north of the same province. There, at Roskilde, he built a house over the fjord where he lived for the remainder of his life.
