Catalogue Note
The Bouroullec brothers, Ronan and Erwan, are among the most celebrated designers of our age, most recently honoured with a highly successful retrospective at Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and a comprehensive monograph published by Phaidon. Along with Jasper Morrison and Tom Dixon, they are among the designers working today that Jony and Marc most admire. Invited to participate in the (RED) Auction, they chose to create a unique version of their minimalist "Piani" table lamp, originally designed for Flos, Piani features a distinctive pair of parallel flat elements: the smaller top casts an LED light onto the larger lower tray, which can be used to hold books, keys, watches or other items of everyday life. The (RED) Auction version of Piani is the only one made of nero marquina stone, and it is fifty percent larger than all others.
