Catalogue Note

Donated by Georg Jensen A/S.

Jony's father was a silversmith and Marc trained as one, and so this precious metal has tremendous meaning for the pair.  It is telling that the single silver object they chose for the sale is this deceptively simple serving pitcher, originally designed in 1952 by Henning Koppel for Georg Jensen, and instantly recognized as a classic.  This solid sterling silver pitcher, made by hand, showcases the techniques in which total mastery of material is paramount.  Georg Jensen has never before lacquered the interior of a jug with a colour, but at Jony and Marc's behest, the singular example glows with red Pantone 1805C.
