Catalogue Note
This is one of the earliest examples of printed music for a drama. It is a neo-Latin play written by one of the greatest humanists of the age, Johannes Reuchlin of Pforzheim, who introduced neo-Latin comedy to a German audience. The play was first performed in Heidelberg in February 1497, and the text was first published in 1498 in Basel by Johann Bergmann de Olpe (see: Hirsch III 922), also with woodcut music for the chorus.
