Catalogue Note

Vera Janacopoulos was a Brazilian soprano whom Prokofiev met in America; known as "Diva", she translated The Love of Three Oranges and The Ugly Duckling into French for him.  She also sang this piece on many occasions.  See Simon Morrison, The Love and Wars of Lina Prokofiev, (2013), pp. 25 & 151.
