notated on seven two-stave systems per page, extensively revised by the composer throughout, with revisions on pastedowns on around 13 pages, including several complete pages, additional deletions and alterations, and a few passages on paste-downs in another hand, the Stichvorlage, marked up for the printer in pencil and in ink, including the plate number 74,

38 pages, folio (c.34 x 27cms), 14-stave paper, some browning and a little dust-marking, a few small tears to margins,

Catalogue Note

George Onslow (1784-1853) was a French composer of English descent.  The piano and wind sextet Op.30 dates from 1825.  The work dates from the early part of Onslow's career, during the period of his popular and attractive string quintets, for which he is renowned.
