Catalogue Note

This collection contains music by the first major Spanish composer of the Renaissance, Cristóbal de Morales (c.1500-1553): his three-part motets 'Tu es Petrus' and 'Puer natus est'. There are also four untexted ricercare by Adrian Willaert (c.1490-1562), six motets by Constanzo Festa (c.1485/90-1545) and twelve by Jacquet de Mantua (1483-1559). The tenor book is dated 1551 and the cantus 1552, as called for in RISM.
