Catalogue Note
A late letter from the declining composer, unpublished in the collected edition of Bruckner's letters.
This poignant letter was written less than a year before Bruckner's death (on 11 October 1896). It follows one of 27 October 1895 from the composer's younger brother Ignaz (1833-1913), in which the latter informs Bruckner about a performance of his 4th Symphony in Linz. Mentioned in warm terms here is Bruckner's friend, and sometime copyist, the St. Florian music-teacher Karl Aigner (1863-1935).
