Description

  • Late seventeenth-century Florentine cookery book, containing 180 recipes, and dated 1695

the recipes attributed to Domenico Belloni, in the service of Cosimo III of Tuscany, the two title-pages reading "Ristretto di Ricette del Serv[izi]o: di Credenza Inparati [in parì] da Domenico Belloni nella Credenza del Ser[enissi]mo Gran Duca Per Servizio della Ser[enissi]ma Elettrice Palatina l'anno 1695", written in a single scribal hand throughout, with a few later additions, providing recipies for milk, cakes, biscuits, preserves, tarts, syrups, particularly using fruits and vegetables, and without any meat or fish dishes

c.290 pages, 4to (c.23 x 19cm), the recipes numbered at the page-corners (1-100 & 1-80), eighteenth century calf, staining to corners, heavier at the start of the volume, very worn but sound, lacking ties
