Condition
The following condition report has been kindly prepared by Jane McAusland FIIC, Conservator and Restorer of Art on Paper, Nether Hall Barn, Old Newton, Nr. Stowmarket, Suffolk, IP14 4PP.
Support
This large gouache painting by Bridget Riley was mounted in a Perspex box frame, probably shortly after it was executed. As pollution moves into the back of these frames at the edges this causes typical slight edge staining and this painting has this problem. Otherwise the condition of the paper is very good with no damages and it is free of hinges with no lining.
Medium
The medium is in a very good condition being extremely bright with no fading.
Note: This work was viewed outside studio conditions.
Housed in a Perspex box frame.
