Condition

The following condition report has been kindly prepared by Jane McAusland FIIC, Conservator and Restorer of Art on Paper, Nether Hall Barn, Old Newton, Nr. Stowmarket, Suffolk, IP14 4PP. Support This small painting by Bridget Riley on graph paper is over-mounted at the edges and attached at the edges to a backing board. A small examination seems to point to the drawing not being stuck to the over-mount. The paper has very slightly darkened over the years and there is a light mount stain where the mount touches the paper. Medium The medium is in excellent condition being bright and unfaded. Note: This work was viewed outside studio conditions. Housed in a silver metal frame, within a cream card mount. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present

Catalogue Note

‘It sometimes amazes me when people say, “How do you work?” because in fact it is all in the painting, it is absolutely self-evident. If someone is interested enough to look at the painting he will find out all there is to know. Nothing is hidden, other than a few structural lines which I do not want to be visible.’
