Condition
There is a very slight warp to the lower half of the panel, with a c.4in. very fine vertical crack running down from the top edge, visible upon close inspection. There is a tiny possible nick to the centre of the extreme left hand edge, not totally visible in the present frame.
There is very minor surface dirt, and slight varnish discolouration, but this excepting the work appears in good overall condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals areas of fluorescence and probably retouchings to the subject's face, and down the thinner right hand tree trunk, most probably in line with the aforementioned vertical crack.
Housed in a thick wooden gilt frame, set within a cream linen mount.
