Condition
Original canvas, there are pinholes visible in all four corners.
There is a faint stretcher bar mark, visible in the upper left hand corner, with a small spot of vertical craquelure in the upper left corner, with a further isolated spot to the thick green/yellow impasto in the bottom left hand quadrant. Elsewhere there is very minor traces of surface matter in the upper right corner, but this excepting the work appears in excellent overall condition.
The nature of the materials and the framing of the work makes a clear ultraviolet light reading difficult, but there appears no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouchings.
Housed behind glass in a thick gilt wooden frame, set within a cream linen textured mount. Unexamined out of frame.

Catalogue Note
‘I try to use a notation of tones and colours so that the design flows from side-to-side, up-down, and in and out. I am not interested in representing the facts as such until this visual music has been created. But this creation must satisfy me as being true to life, though not naturalistically accurate.’
