Catalogue Note

We are grateful to Robin Spencer for his kind assistance with the cataloguing of the present work.

Eduardo Paolozzi worked on Oscar Wilde between 1998-9 for the Chelsea Society. It was intended for the Kings Road, where the road widens at the hairpin bend of the World's End, but Paolozzi fell ill in August 2000 before the funds were obtained for casting, which was to be undertaken by the Pangolin Foundry, so it was never enlarged. Eduardo Paolozzi had photographs of the site taken, and made photo montages of it (it would have been nearly five times life size) and also made a number of unique wood and plaster models, mostly of the sleeping head. A unique wood and plaster version  of an upright head of Oscar was sold to a museum in the Netherlands in 2012 for £22,000.
