Condition

The work is in good condition overall, as is the canvas, which is clear and taut. Indication of light wear and handling is evident around the edges of the painting, but paint layers are well-preserved. Upon close observation, a light craquelure is visible on the upper left (yellow paint). Under ultraviolet light examination reveals minor restorations predominantly on the bottom area (between the trees and animals) and on the top right and left margins. Framed.

Catalogue Note

“Widayat’s works elicit a feeling of purity and silence. They draw the viewer gently into introspection. It seems that Widayat has the desire to correct the present and return us to the primordial past, to a more transcendental time.”
