Condition

Very good condition overall with some minor wear to the surface at several places consistent with age and handling. Some minor oxydation and dirt in the crevices. A few minor chips to the edges of the marble base.

Catalogue Note

Le  marbre antique qui a servi de modèle à ce Centaure fut découvert, avec un deuxième du même sujet, à Rome en 1736, lors des fouilles menées par Mgr Furietti à la Villa Adriana et est conservé au Musée du Capitole.
