Catalogue Note
Suzanne Belperron showed a great interest in a variety of exotic cultures, using them as sources of inspiration. African arts, very popular in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century, proved to be highly appreciated by Belperron. The use of martelage, or hammering, a technique used by the African artisans, is reflective of this interest.
