Description

  • sapphire, diamond, platinum
Simply set with an oval sapphire weighing 21.00 carats, to a stylised mount set with circular-cut diamonds, mounted in platinum. Ring size: 5½

Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to both Gübelin and AGL reports, the sapphire is natural, of Burmese origin, with no indication of heating and clarity enhancement. Please refer to the reports for details. In our opinion, the sapphire shows a slightly deep, strong blue colour, clean to naked eyes. Upon 10x loupe, there are some fine silks, mostly on side and not seen to naked eyes. Single-cut diamonds on shank are probably G to H colours, VS to SI clarity. Condition: Platinum ring mount, with signs of wear to the shank, otherwise in good condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.

Catalogue Note

Accompanied by Gübelin and AGL reports numbered 12015262 and CS 44720, dated 23 January 2012 and 4 May 2011 respectively, stating that the 21.00 carat sapphire is natural, of Burmese (Myanmar) origin, with no indications of heating.
