Catalogue Note
The publisher’s catalogue in the first London edition (described by both Sadleir and Wolff) is dated August 1, 1860, although copies are known with the catalogue dated May 1, 1860. There is also a “New edition” (see next lot) issued in 1860 with the catalogue dated November 1, 1860. The present “Fourth edition,” with the catalogue dated September 1, 1860, would appear to precede the “New edition” by two months.
