Catalogue Note
Robbery Under Arms played an important role in establishing the bushranger as a romantic hero in the Australian imagination, through its vivid presentation of the outlaw life of Dick Marston and Captain Starlight. It has enjoyed enormous popularity from the time of its first publication, has never been out of print, and has been adapted for stage and screen.
