Condition

This painting has a thin lining, which might even be original. The work is clean. The paint layer is stable and is lightly varnished. This is a fairly complex paint layer. The dark patches that can be seen under ultraviolet light in the background do not correspond to restoration, except for one area in the center of the left side in the background. The neck, the forehead and the right side of the face are all un-retouched. The bridge of the nose shows strongly under ultraviolet light, but this is not retouching. There do appear to be thin retouches down the cheekbone on the left side of the face. There is also an isolated spot or two of retouching on the far left and center. The work should be hung as is.
