Condition
The canvas is not lined. There is a thick varnish and UV examination reveals some scattered retouchings in the lower third, a few tiny spots to her forehead and one in the background to the right of her face. The most prominent retouching is towards the centre lower edge and corresponds to a previous repair. There is a faint horizontal stretcher bar mark, some stable paint shrinkage to the brown pigments and a few fine lines of craquelure in places. Otherwise this work is in overall fairly good condition.
Colours: overall fairly accurate in the printed catalogue.
