Condition
The canvas is not lined. There is a thick layer of uneven varnish preventing the UV light from fully penetrating, but there do not appear to be any signs of retouching. The surface is varied and there are some fine lines of paint shrinkage to the sky and to the sand-coloured gound. There is some slight craquelure on the red pigment of the darkest horse, which appears to be stable. There is a tiny paint loss to the edge towards the upper right corner and a few very minor spots to the blue pigment towards the upper left corner. Otherwise, this work is overall good condition.
Colours: Overall fairly accurate, though slightly less blue in the original.
