Literature

Condition
The canvas is not lined, and there appear to be no signs of retouching visible under UV light. The figures are painted extremely thickly to create a relief effect, and there are fine lines of craquelure, which appear to be stable, most prominently to the thick white surface with some associated paint losses and a further few lines of craquelure to the figures. Otherwise, this work is in overall good condition.
Colours: Overall fairly accurate in the printed catalogue, though the dark-brown is more nutty and the background is slightly warmer in the original.
