Condition

The canvas is not lined. There is a thick layer of varnish preventing the UV light from fully penetrating, however UV examination does reveal a few tiny scattered spots of retouching to the brown pigment on the lower part of the jacket to the right of the waistcoat. There are some very fine lines of paint shrinkage to the edge of the painter's white collar. Otherwise, this work is in overall good condition. Colours: overall fairly accurate in the printed catalogue, though the green is slightly more emerald in the original.
