Catalogue Note

In 1925 Giacometti modelled out of a block of plaster, a sculpture entitled Torse.  This plaster is currently housed in the collection of the Kunsthaus, Zurich. From the plaster, at a later date, an edition in bronze was cast.
As a result of Giacometti's relationship with one of his major patrons, the American industrialist G. David Thompson, he authorised this unique version of the sculpture in stainless steel to be created by his Pittsburgh patron. The work is accompanied by a photo-certificate signed by the artist.
