Les armes sont celles des ducs de Montebello, princes de Sievers, probablement pour Charles-Louis-Maurice, 5e duc (1836-1922), qui épouse en 1865 Marie-Joséphine O'Tard de la Grange.
Pour une paire de raviers par le même orfèvre et également estampés Piault, voir Sotheby's Paris, 10 juin 2004, lot 144.
A partir de 1884, Gustave Leroy ouvre son atelier et Jules Piault entre au capital, d'où la dénomination Leroy et Cie. L'atelier sera repris en 1897 par Robert Linzeler. Nous remercions vivement Rémi Verlet pour ces informations.
