The necklace centered by an emerald-cut aquamarine weighing approximately 60.00 carats, framed by 26 baguette aquamarines, completed by a necklace composed of paisley-shaped links set with numerous round aquamarines; the bottom section detaches via a removable pin stem for wear as a bodice ornament, length of bodice ornament 7¼ inches, internal circumference of necklace 14 inches, with maker's mark and French assay marks; together with a pair of earclips of similar design, set with two emerald-cut aquamarines weighing approximately 10.50 carats, accented by round aquamarines, with French assay and maker's marks; circa 1945. The earclips with a signed pouch.
Condition
In good condition. The aquamarines are medium light very slightly greenish blue and eye-clean. The center emerald-cut aquamarine in the necklace is slightly more greenish in color than indicated by the printed catalgoue. The floriform centerpiece and articulated pendant form an integrated unit that may be removed for wear as a bodice ornament. The brooch fitting can be unscrewed to make the necklace lie flatter against the collarbone. The earclips are fitted with omega backs. A peridot necklace with similar-shaped links is illustrated in René Boivin: Jeweller, by Françoise Cailles, page 232.
