Description
- René Boivin
- gold, sapphire, emerald, citrine
The textured gold fish with an articulated tail, set with numerous round sapphires and emeralds, further set with two cabochon citrine eyes, completed by a fancy-link chain, total gross weight approximately 51 dwts, chain length 27½ inches, with French assay and workshop marks; the top of the fish pendant opens to reveal a compartment holding a perfume vial. With signed pouch.
Condition
In very good condition. The fish's tail is highly flexible and articulated and can move side to side easily when worn. The emeralds are medium light green and range from lightly to moderately included, some examples with small fractures due to surface reaching inclusions. The sapphires are medium, slightly violetish blue and are lightly included, some stones also exhibit surface reaching inclusions. The citrine cabochon "eyes" are medium slightly brownish orange and one cabochon has a significant chip. The fish's head flips up and the body holds a small, empty bottle of Balenciaga "Quadrille" perfume. The gold has some minor scratching due to wear. Both the fish and the necklace are stamped with the workshop mark for Daviere.
