Condition

With scattered age and construction cracks, dents and abrtasions. Veneer with some small losses and restorations in areas; not extensive. Marquetry with scattered restorations and replacements. Ormolu with some traces of oxidation; not extensive. Leather inlay with scuffs, marks and scratches.

Catalogue Note

This lot belongs to a group of comparable tables of this form, size and proportions executed by Adrien-Antoine Gosselin and Brice Péridiez. These tables are sometimes also stamped Delorme since the marchand-ébéniste Adrien-Faizelot Delorme is known to have sold such tables. For such table by Gosselin in the Wrightsman Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, see F.J.B.
