The rectangular case applied with black lacquer, the clasp and corners set with polished coral, measuring approximately 80 x 55 x 10mm, signed Cartier, Paris, Londres, New York, Made in France, French assay marks; the square case opening to reveal a mirror and powder compartment, accented to the front with circular-cut rubies, measuring approximately 74 x 80 x 15mm, signed Boucheron, Paris and numbered, French assay and maker's marks.

Black lacquer in overall good condition, with minor abrasions consistent with age and wear and one small chip to the underside on the left hand edge. One coral with hairline fracture. Clasp fitting secure. Rubies of Burmese origin cannot be imported into the US; this piece may contain a ruby of Burmese origin and therefore may not be able to be imported into the US.
