Description

carved recumbent with legs tucked underneath, grasping in its mouth leafy grape vines, the polished stone of a translucent white tone with russet markings

Provenance

Purchased in France, 8th February 1991.

Condition

There is a 0.3 x 0.1cm chip to the lower edge of the vine leaf. Apart from minor nicks and natural veining of the stone, the carving is in good condition. The stone is of a slightly more celadon tone compared to the catalogue illustration.
