Description
- Jade, turquoise, metal, glass, wood and ivory
comprising: a turquoise matrix snuff bottle, and three jade snuff bottles, one carved with shuangxi (double happiness) characters; one carved as a double gourd; and another carved as a lotus pod bundled with scrolls
Provenance
Purchased in France between 1979 and 1999.
Condition
The spatula of the turquoise matrix snuff bottle is broken and lost.
The double gourd snuff bottle has a 0.1cm nick to the edge of a vine leaf to the exterior.
The original spatula of the lotus and scroll snuff bottle may have been lost and replaced with a wooden one. There is minor nibbling along the edges.
There are minute nicks to the shuangxi snuff bottle, including a 0.1cm mark near the top of one shuangxi character, and a small black dot below one of the lion masks.
The jade stones are of a slightly more celadon tone compared to the catalogue illustration.
