  • LACQUER
with shallow rounded sides supported on a straight foot, deftly carved in deep relief through the layers of rich cinnabar lacquer with a continuous landscape depicting the Eight Immortals by a lake among rock formations and a lush variety of trees, all below craggy hills and clouds in the distance, one side with Han Xiangzi followed by Cao Guojiu, Lu Dongbin and Zhang Guolao, the reverse with He Xiangu, Han Zhongli, Li Tieguai and Lan Caihe, the foot incised with a band of key-fret, the interior and base lacquered black

Condition

The bowl is in overall good condition with some retouching to the lacquer around the foot, and probably black relacquering to the interior.
