Description

the edict, an imperial promotion conferred upon an official's grandparents, written in ink on a woven silk brocade, the text reading from right to left in regular script (kaishu), and repeated in Manchu script reading from left to right, impressed with the imperial Zhigao zhi bao seal (‘Seal of Edict’) and dated to the 30th year of the Daoguang reign, corresponding to 1850, on the second day of the third month

Condition

The edict is no longer mounted to scroll ends. The textile has lost a bit of its original colour and has some expected wear and fraying to the edges.
