Description

  • porcelain
with shallow rounded sides rising from a short slightly tapered foot to an everted rim, brightly decorated on the interior with a central medallion enclosing a five-clawed dragon enamelled in translucent green, writhing among flames chasing a 'flaming pearl', all within a green circle repeated at the rim, the exterior similarly decorated with a pair of five-clawed dragons striding in pursuit of a 'flaming pearl' against an incised ground of turbulent waves and rocks, the base inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character reign mark

Condition

The overall condition is very good, with almost all the enamel well preserved. There is only a very minute kiln grit to the central medallion above the 'flaming pearl'.
