the shallow rounded sides rising from a tapered foot to a flared rim, freely painted on the interior in deep cobalt blue with a lotus bouquet of flowers, buds, leaves and a pod tied together with arrowhead and other water plants, the rim encircled with a trellis border, the exterior with the beribboned bajixiang supported on lotus blooms borne on undulating leafy scrolls

Provenance

Collection of Sir George Labouchère of Dudmaston Hall, Shropshire, England. Sir George Labouchère was a councillor in Nanjing 1946-1948.

Condition

The overall condition is very good with only a few light scratches and specks of kiln grit on the interior. The actual tone of cobalt is consistent with the catalogue illustration, the white ground slightly more tinged with blue.
