Condition
Overall the condition of the limewood is good, with wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. The figure was stripped of its polychromy. The saint has lost the attributes in both hands and there is a loss to the proper left side of the base at the back. There are a few small losses to some of the fingers. There is splitting consistent with the material, in particular to the back of the head. There are a few restorations, including to some of the splits and to the base. There is non-active worming to the wood, in particular to the back. The figure may have had a coronet, now lost. There is a new stabilising piece of wood to the base at the back. There is a metal hook to the back.

Catalogue Note
The enlarged eyes, the naturalism with which the skin and bone structure of the face is rendered, and continous drapery folded over the proper right hand recall the work of Veit Stoss. See for example his Man of Sorrows from the Volckamer monument.
