Condition
Overall the condition of the box is good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age and handling. There is splitting to the bone and wood consistent with material. A few tesserae have been lost and a couple may be replaced (on the right side of the box). A section of wood on the front edge of the lid is lost. There are a few old nail holes, including to the front. The top sections of the hinges have replaced nails. The key is lost. There are some abraisons, including to the surface of the chess board.
