Condition

The canvas has been relined. Ultraviolet light reveals scattered spots and small strokes of retouching in the background notably in the mirror, in the floor in the lower left, and in the white-grey pigments near the centre of the left edge. The appearance of the work is good and it is clean and ready to hang. Held in a decorative gilt frame with a nameplate.
