Catalogue Note
Drawn for and published in the Surrey Advertiseron 21 December 1946. In the left hand corner, Piglet, Ratty, Mole and Badger appear to have brought wrapped parcels to place at the foot of a Christmas tree. Winnie-the-Pooh, however, is accompanied by a large jar.
The newspaper noted that 'the Surrey Advertiser;'s Christmas picture conveys the season's greetings to every reader. The little creatures of Mr. Ernest H. Shepard's book illustrations are loved by children all over the world. In this happy drawing the famous artist assembles them, to bring to his young Surrey neighbours, and to their elders, a reflection of the spirit of the festival of childhood'.
