A stunning set of sumptuous designs for the recent Bloomsbury paperback edition of Harry Potter novels, published between July and September 2013.
The original illustrations were wood-engraved onto a series of nine by seven inch English boxwood blocks. These were then printed on Japanese paper using an 1859 Albion hand press. Davidson has noted that he wanted the illustrations 'to look as if they had come straight from the library at Hogwarts… Each image aims to capture the spirit and setting of each book – as the stories become darker, so do the engravings. There are also hidden clues in each of the illustrations to look out for…'
