Catalogue Note
William Ramesey was the son of a Scottish clockmaker who was keeper of clocks and watches to James I. Originally a professional astrologer, Ramesey devoted his later life to the practice of medicine, publishing a number of books including a study of the treatment of worms and the present work on poisons. Originally published in 1663 as De venenis, the work was re-issued in 1665 with a new title-page. Both issues are rare: ESTC lists 5 copies of the first and 4 copies of the second.
