52 cards, each 92 x 65mm., engraved, plain versos, 13 mounted in a frame, the rest in a folder attached to the back of the frame, the knave of spades slightly defective at upper left-hand corner

Catalogue Note

This set of cards was originally issued in 1698 by William Warter, but because of some offensive scenes were quickly withdrawn. Lenthall had been apprenticed to Warter and acquired his business in 1708/9. The ace of spades contains a red garter tax stamp (in use c.1711-56).
