Condition
Colour:
The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate.
Condition:
This work is in very good condition. The sheet is attached verso to the backing board in several places. Extremely close inspection reveals a very faint handling crease along the bottom edge towards the right corner, as well as a minute crease to the extreme lower left corner tip. All other surface irregularities are inherent with the artist's working process.

Catalogue Note
“Basquiat's work, like that of most of his peers, was based on appropriation…the images he appropriated - whether they were from the Bible or a chemistry textbook - became part of his original vocabulary… Basquiat combined and recombined these idiosyncratic symbols throughout his career: the recursive references to anatomy, black culture, television and history are his personal hieroglyphics.”
