Condition
Colour:
The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate.
Condition:
This work is in very good condition. There is extremely light wear to the lower corner tips and horizontal extreme edges. Upon very close inspection, there is a pin head-sized speck of surface loss to the lower turnover edge towards the lower right hand corner and a few light rub marks intermittently along the top edge, some of which are likely to be original to the artist's working process. Examination under ultra-violet light reveals two minute spots that fluoresce white in the top right corner and to one of the little holes due to surface paint loss, and a very small spot of retouching in the top right quadrant.

Catalogue Note
...I called the first pictures "Spatial Concepts"...It was already the end of the picture, then, it was already the intention of the objet...My discovery was the hole and that's all...the discovery of the cosmos is a new dimension, it is the infinite; so I made a hole in this canvas, which was at the root of all the arts, and I created an infinite dimension...' (Lucio Fontana in Carla Lonzi, Autoritratto, Milan, 1969, pp.167-169)
